Only just read the first part of this weeks 2.1 and wanted to comment quickly before moving on to the rest:

I am familiar with the Radiohead album being "free" to download and the "controversy" it caused. It sounded like a stupid idea to me--why put all that work into something and not receive any monitary compesation (b/c how many people are actually going to pay, 2 in 6 apparently).

Wii for Mii

I happen to be among the privileged who are married to a gamer. Nothing says, "Honey, I love you, welcome home," like walking in the front door to find your husband and three of his closest friends camped out on your couch, frantically pressing buttons on the controllers clutched in their hands, screaming obscenities at the television while they bravely and mercilessly defend the planet from the digitized alien life forms that have invaded. Again.

Being as such, we have not one, not two but six gaming systems in our tiny apartment (this is counting his five state of the arts and my old school original NES--a classic.) One of these systems is the Wii. I avoid the xbox as much as possible (though I do rock out to Guitar Hero and Rock Band on occasion) and I have yet to touch the PS2. But the Wii is something that I voluntarily learned to play. My gamer husband often comments, with an air of snobbery, at the low quality graphics and even more so, at the lack of "cool games" to play. I agree that he has a point. However, Wii Sports is as much fun as everyone claims. I particularly enjoy tennis and have more than once lost my breath to dashing around after the phantom ball, and feeling an ache in my shoulder upon completion.

Best of all, playing Wii tennis inspired me to actually purchase rackets and balls and attempt to play tennis. For real. Outside. On a court. With real equipment. It's fun, it's great exercise and it gives my husband and I a hobby we can share (when I can pull him away from his console du jour.)

Of this particular 2.1, however, I am most interested, I confess, in the Youtube pilates. And the best part is, the Wii can connect to the internet, meaning I can pull up YouTube on the big screen and pilates away without having to deal with the tiny computer screen.

If, you know, the aliens can stay away for 7 minutes.

Hello from a New Bee (buzzzzz)

Fall is my favorite season and Halloween is my second favorite holiday (the first being Christmas), so I decided to theme my blog in Nightmare Before Christmas.

I've been keeping an old fashioned paper and pen diary since I was seven years old and an newfangled blog since 2004. The art of writing out my thoughts, memories and activities is not a new concept for me, but I am certainly looking forward to learning everything Learn 2.1 has in store for us!
